Ebru Fine Art - Reza Antoszewska - Portland, Oregon
Ebru is ancient printmaking , first described in China. The art form has taken three main branches, in Japan as the art form Suminagashi, floating ink on water , as a craft of paper marbling in the West and as Ebru in Turkey.
Ebru has developed into a fine art in Turkey. Artists such as Hikmet Barutçugil in Istanbul, Turkey and Feridun Ozgoren in Boston Massachusetts have developed profound and beautiful style and techniques. I am fortunate to have learned from these two masters of this art.
My works include the traditional forms of the Turkish art as well as explorations of contemporary experimental applications of this art form. The use of multilayer monoprints gives a broad means of expression.
Since moving to Oregon, I have also started working with landscape photography. The extraordinary beauty of this part of the world is inspiring and expansive.
